Bharat Singh was infected with leprosy at the age of 11 years but was not aware about the disease. His parents took him to different witch doctors (Dhami/Jhakri) and also used some ointments from a pharmacy. Later, the condition got worse and he developed ulcers in his fingers and toes. Thenafter, he came to Kathmandu for treatment and started taking medicine from Anandaban Hospital. At present, his fingers and toes are clawed.
At Anandaban hospital, he got to know about New SADLE through friends and joined New SADLE in 1996 and started working in its bags section.
He got married in 1998, two years after coming to New SADLE, and has a son aged 17 and a daughter aged 13 years. His son is studying Hotel Management and daughter is still in school.
He recollects many good experiences after starting work at New SADLE and how his life changed and people’s behaviour towards him after that.
