Chery Maya joined New SADLE in 2005 when she was referred to New SADLE by Hariyo Kharka Hospital, Pokhara where she was getting her treatment. She developed scars on her legs and arms which were very itching in her initial stages but luckily didn’t lose any of her body parts. She took medicines for 4.5 years and is now leading a normal life.
To add to her tragic story, her husband left her along with her child who was just one a half years old when she was diagnosed of the disease. She was socially discarded and had no where to go.
She was helped by New SADLE and started working in its Bags section. Now, she does the normal cleaning works at the office.
She is happy to work at New SADLE and is thankful that she can earn a living for herself working here. Her son has already completed high school now and wishes to study further.
